Proposing Stylish Cycling
The "Tweed Run" is an event that began in 2009, aiming to enjoy cycling through the city in stylish tweed attire. It is now held independently in various locations worldwide, including London, New York, Florence (during PITTI UOMO), Victoria (Canada), and Sydney.
"Tweed Run Tokyo 2012" aims to promote safe cycling and the joy of riding through the city. With Hirofumi Kurino serving as executive committee chairman, four organizations—LOOP MAGAZINE (San-ei Shobo Publishing Co., Ltd.), Tweed Club by Team Bishu~, the Japan Fashion Week Organization, and GYPSY THREE ORCHESTRA—have come together to plan Japan's first cycling event of its kind, where participants can enjoy a group ride dressed stylishly in tweed.
For All Who Love Style, Cycling, and Tokyo──Hirofumi Kurino
Hirofumi Kurino, Creative Advisor at United Arrows and Executive Committee Chairman of "Tweed Run Tokyo 2012," has long expressed, "As retailers, we can sell products to customers. But can we provide them with places to wear those clothes?" Kurino commented, "I believe Tweed Run is a meaningful event for everyone who loves fashion, loves cycling, and loves Tokyo and the Japanese landscape. I look forward to your understanding, cooperation, and enthusiastic participation."
On the day of "Tweed Run Tokyo 2012" on Saturday, October 20th, Ted Young-Ing, the founder and organizer of the original "The Tweed Run" in London, and event director Jacqui Shannon are scheduled to visit Japan. Please offer them your cheers from the sidelines in Shibuya, a hub of fashion.
