"Dutch Contemporary Art Jewelry Exhibition" Held

Johannes Vermeer, the painter currently drawing the most attention at the "Masterpieces of Dutch and Flemish Painting from the Mauritshuis" exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, is renowned for his iconic work, "Girl with a Pearl Earring." To commemorate the painting's visit to Japan, the "Dutch Contemporary Art Jewelry Exhibition" will be held at the MIKIMOTO Hall on the 6th floor of the MIKIMOTO Main Store from Friday, July 27th to Sunday, September 2nd.

A World of Unique Jewelry Reflecting the Spirit of Contemporary Dutch Design

The "Dutch Contemporary Art Jewelry Exhibition," held to celebrate the visit of "Girl with a Pearl Earring" to Japan, will showcase new works created by ten contemporary Dutch jewelry designers, inspired by Vermeer's masterpiece. Approximately 65 pieces of jewelry, crafted using a variety of materials and showcasing each designer's unique individuality and imagination, will be on display.

MIKIMOTO, a sponsor of the "Masterpieces of Dutch and Flemish Painting from the Mauritshuis" exhibition, has created two sets of jewelry to commemorate the event, under the theme, "If we were to create pearl earrings for this girl today..." One pair of earrings, featuring large South Sea pearls delicately embraced by diamonds, emanates a soft, gentle light, reminiscent of the adornment depicted in the painting.

One pair of earrings will be exhibited at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, and the other at the MIKIMOTO Main Store, for the duration of the art exhibition (until September 17th). In keeping with the enigmatic nature of the masterpiece, a secret is hidden within these two pairs of earrings. We invite you to discover this secret by comparing the two pairs firsthand.
