Special Exhibitions, Talk Events, and Workshops Held for Three Weekends Only

DESIGNING is an exhibition that began in Fukuoka, Kyushu, in 2005 with the keyword "Design Changes the City." It aims to convey and celebrate the appeal of design in everyday life.

2012 DESIGNING?—This year, in addition to the official DESIGNING? events spread across Fukuoka and DESIGNING? RELAY featuring various creators and shops, a special satellite site will open in Daimyo from the 11th to the 13th. Under the concept "D.I.Y. + SHARE / Do it yourself, and share it with others," individuals who are creating their own spaces with their own hands will be invited from Fukuoka, Kyushu, Japan, and abroad. Special exhibitions, talk events, and workshops will be held over three weekends.


Vahakn Matossian + Fabien Cappello | exhibition & WORKSHOP
London-based artist and designer Vahakn Matossian and product & furniture designer Fabien Cappello will host a furniture-making workshop using materials collected from around Fukuoka.
The workshop offers three course options: "Short," "Middle," and "Long." Short: A course for creating simple furniture or toys (approx. 2-3 hours). Middle: A course for building furniture in one day (reservations required). Long: A course for constructing furniture over three days (reservations required).
Talk Event | Kyohei Sakaguchi x Shin Fukumori x Ryuji Fujimura
One year after the talk session "PEOPLE’S PROCESS" held on May 11th, 2011, this special talk event features young architects and designers involved in various forms of creation and design—including architecture, products, writing, and exhibition curation—discussing their current thoughts and future projects.

"Pasta Architecture" Workshop | YCAM (Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media)
Build structures by gluing pasta with hot glue. However, there's a rule: you must move to the next seat after five minutes. What will the finished pasta architecture look like? Experience YCAM's "Pasta Architecture Workshop" in Fukuoka, which allows you to engage with the essence of cellular automata in a fun way. The workshop's appeal lies in encouraging participants to think with their own hands and minds, rather than seeking a single "correct answer." It's an enjoyable activity for both adults and children.
"Today's Music" Workshop | Yuri Miyauchi
Experience the creative process of Yuri Miyauchi's (musician / www.miyauchiyuri.com) lifelong project, "Today's Music," a diary-like musical endeavor. This special workshop is designed to be enjoyable even for those without prior knowledge of music or instruments.
