Four Types of Collaboration Photo T-shirts to Go on Sale Exclusively at the Venue

Photographer Shumpei Ohsugi, son of actor Ren Ohsugi and representative of LEAVES WORK, which engages in support activities including art exhibitions, has joined forces with fashion brand Lithium Homme, the Rebirth Project (familiar to OPENERS readers), and Kurkku, represented by music producer Takeshi Kobayashi.

Photographer Shumpei Ohsugi has been exploring ways to offer support since the earthquake. The "Our Sky" project began with the words of children in Fukushima, who, while evacuated, remarked, "The sky is beautiful, isn't it? We don't have to worry about radiation." This inspired him to want to let children who couldn't play outside see the sky to their heart's content.

On September 11, six months after the earthquake, he tweeted a request for people to take photos of the sky and send them in. Within just one week, sky photos arrived from 2,025 people across all 47 prefectures of Japan and 27 countries worldwide. All these photos were combined to create a single "sky," which was then donated to Minamisoma City and also gifted to all elementary school students in the city.

This exhibition will also feature for the first time a work created by combining sky photographs taken on March 11, 2012, one year after the Great East Japan Earthquake, which were solicited primarily through social media. This piece, "Under the Same Sky, May We All Be Connected...", is composed of over 7,900 photos gathered from 47 prefectures and 38 countries. Following the Tokyo exhibition, it is scheduled to be shown in Kobe and Fukushima as well.
