Four-Day Glass Design Workshop Held
The glassblowing workshop at "fresco," which was regrettably cancelled last year due to an unprecedented major earthquake, will be held this spring over four days from Sunday, April 29th to Wednesday, May 2nd. Ryochi Kobayashi, product designer and head of "Studio GALA," will be invited as the instructor for a glass design workshop and public lecture emphasizing the design process.

A Rare Workshop Offering Experience from Design to Presentation
The theme of this workshop is "Four Seasons - Designing Seasons with Glass." Glass, a material less familiar as everyday tableware in Japan compared to materials like wood or ceramics. For this workshop, we welcome Ryochi Kobayashi, who has been researching the relationship between Japanese people and objects for nearly 30 years since establishing "Studio GALA" in 1982, and has consistently designed with a contemporary interpretation. He will guide participants in re-examining the richness of culture nurtured by Japan's four seasons and expressing "Japanese seasons" through glass.
This workshop offers a practical experience from design to production and presentation, with guidance from Mr. Kobayashi throughout the process. Furthermore, Mr. Kobayashi himself, who leads GALA products that are gaining attention as a response to Japanese modern design fitting contemporary Japan, will be involved in the design and creation of prototypes. This provides a valuable opportunity to closely observe the workflow of a professional.
On the first day, April 29th (Sun, Holiday), a public lecture will also be held from 7:00 PM (reservations required, limited to 50 attendees). Those other than workshop participants can also attend, making it a must-visit for those involved in or aspiring to work in glass art, product design, or spatial design.
