A Rare Opportunity to Immerse Yourself in Stephen Gill's Unique and Profound World

British photographer Stephen Gill has works in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum. His original perspective and refined sensibility have garnered global attention. Furthermore, the photobooks he himself has produced are highly acclaimed, particularly in Europe. His "Hackney Flowers" (2007), which focuses on flowers, received the Best Photography Book Award from The Times in 2008.

UTRECHT / NOW IDEA will exhibit and sell works published by this acclaimed photographer, which are rarely seen in Japan, alongside the January issue of "HUGE." Additionally, visuals featured in "HUGE" will be displayed in "piece×peace FRAME," created by interior designer Kazutoyo Yamamoto.

The January issue of "HUGE," published by Kodansha, features 10 pages of unpublished works from "Hackney Flowers," with the cooperation of Gill himself. It also includes an interview with and commentary by Hiroshi Eguchi, the owner of UTRECHT / NOW IDEA, making for a richly rewarding read.

Stephen Gill
Photographer. Born in Bristol, UK, in 1971. Taught film photography and development by his father, he was exposed to photography from a young age. He then formally studied photography at Filton College in Bristol in 1992 and began working at Magnum Photos a year later. After going independent in 1997, he continued to shoot and accumulate works while earning a living through newspaper assignments, gradually gaining recognition. In 2005, aiming for freer expression, he established "NOBODY," a company for publishing and selling his works. His works have been exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide, including the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK, attracting many fans. Precious prints and publications by him are also available for purchase at the online shop below. Following the Great East Japan Earthquake, he also sold special prints on the same site, with all proceeds donated to the Japanese Red Cross.
