Free Repair and Replacement Support for Damaged Instruments

Great East Japan EarthquakeIn the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, many school organs, pianos, percussion instruments, and other familiar instruments were damaged or lost due to the earthquake and tsunami. The reality is that many children are still unable to enjoy playing music.

Through this project, instrument associations in Miyagi, Iwate, and Fukushima prefectures will offer free repairs for damaged instruments at kindergartens, elementary, junior high, and high schools in the affected areas. For instruments that cannot be repaired, the "Children's Music Revival Fund" will provide financial support for replacements. As the circle of support expands, the organization is also considering holding concerts and other events for children in the affected regions.

The "Children's Music Revival Fund" has Mitsuru Umemura, Chairman of the All Japan Musical Instrument Association, as its representative initiator. Ryuichi Sakamoto, Hiromi Kawai, Chairman of the Japan Musical Instruments Manufacturers Association, and other top figures in the musical instrument industry are also listed as initiators, with the entire industry supporting the fund and project. The operational period is tentatively planned for three years.

The fund is currently seeking donations to support its activities. Contributions can be made via bank transfer, postal transfer, or credit card through the website. The total amount donated will be publicly disclosed on the website.

The "School Music Revival" project aims to create opportunities for instruments to become familiar and enjoyable for children once again. Long-term support is needed to bring smiles to their faces.
