Vol. 13: "Limb Green" Restart

Midsummer, 2011──"Limb Green," which began in 2007, has relocated to Jinbocho. To celebrate, we are unveiling new Limb Green products, along with new Limb Green-style plant pot covers and three types of T-shirts.

A New Journey for "Limb Green" Begins

The new base, the "Toho Gakkai" (Oriental Society), is housed in a building constructed as a school during the Taisho era. It's filled with a nostalgic scent. As its name suggests, it's operated by a long-standing foundation for Asian studies, attracting many researchers and academic papers. The majority of residents are from the publishing industry, but there are also music-related organizations and groups promoting Sino-Japanese exchange.

This neighborhood, with Kanda Myojin Shrine, Yushima Seido, and St. Nicholas Cathedral, along with numerous universities, restaurants, bookstores, and musical instrument shops, is a vibrant area rich in history and romance. The "East" signifies the place of sunrise, where verdant greenery is born anew and grows strong.

Limb Green Oriental Studies "Tanabata" Event

It would be a waste to simply sell our usual green products in such a unique location as the "Toho Gakkai." We decided to push our own forms of expression further and embark on our own "Oriental Studies."

Our aim is to connect East and West, past and future, here and there, using the relationship between plants, nature, and people as our key.

To begin, Limb Green designer Yuichi Tsukada will present "Tanabata" as "Limb Green Oriental Studies Part 1." According to the old calendar, Tanabata falls on the night of August 6th this year. Tanabata holds connections to the Silk Road, Jack and the Beanstalk, gourds, and even taro. Let's also craft the bamboo decorations with an understanding of their meaning.

In the aftermath of the earthquake, the meaning of seasonal offerings and festivals, and the way of life in this country, living in harmony with nature, seem more significant than ever to question.
