I was living in New York when the 9/11 terrorist attacks occurred. While the nature of terrorism, a man-made disaster, is incomparable to this natural disaster, the situation is similar in that the entire nation shared a collective heartache. Mayor Giuliani at the time repeatedly urged through the media that 'living as if nothing happened is the way to not yield to terrorism,' advocating for economic recovery, and I felt firsthand how this gradually led to healing.

Towards Renewal

Easter, or Resurrection Day, celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after his crucifixion. It is celebrated on the 'Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox,' so the date varies each year. This year, it falls on Sunday, April 24th.

Easter Eggs and Easter Bunnies

The chick hatching from an egg is said to symbolize Jesus' resurrection from the tomb, and also represents the joy of life returning to nature after winter.

Rabbits, with their prolific breeding, are also symbols of life's prosperity, and their leaping is said to represent the vitality of life.

Easter eggs are eggs adorned with vibrant colors and beautiful decorations. Egg hunts are games akin to treasure hunts, where children search for hidden eggs scattered around gardens or indoors. The White House in Washington D.C. even hosts a special event in its gardens, opened to the public, where the President and First Lady sometimes join children in the hunt.

This spring marks a fresh beginning, reaffirming the importance of 'bonds.'

I wish to continue proposing the healing power of flowers, the joy of gathering around a table for shared meals, and table coordination that deepens connections, all in the spirit of renewal.
