Ibiza's Grammys? A Must-See for the Clubbing Capital!
IBIZA DJ AWARD 2010 (1)
Ibiza is synonymous with the "mecca of dance music." From June to September, renowned DJs flock to the island, drawing clubbers from around the globe. With the world's largest club, as recognized by Guinness World Records, alongside unique experiences like foam parties and water parties—unimaginable in Japan—the variety of clubs is truly astounding. The high quality of music and the sheer extravagance of the productions solidify Ibiza's status as the world's premier dance music scene. Each year, in late September, Ibiza hosts the "IBIZA DJ AWARD," an event akin to the Grammys for the dance music world, honoring artists across various genres and those who have contributed to the scene. This year marks the 13th iteration of the event, and we're taking you behind the scenes!

Ibiza DJ AWARD ~World’s TOP DJ Reunion~
The awards ceremony is held at PACHA, the globally recognized club known for its cherry logo.
Several hours before the main event, which kicks off at midnight, a cocktail party was held at the popular boutique hotel Ocean Drive Hotel, located just a few minutes' walk from Pacha. The party welcomed nominated artists, media representatives, and VIP guests.
The venue buzzed with a glamorous crowd, including what appeared to be models and drag queens. At the hotel entrance, Mixmaster Morris, popular in Japan for his Red Bull Car performances, was spinning tunes. Inside, media from across Europe conducted interviews, while Ibiza Sonica Radio broadcasted live coverage of the DJ Awards, setting up a large booth. These scenes highlighted the event's significant attention.
In the VIP area in front of the stage at the awards ceremony, un-nominated artists and their friends arrived one after another, enjoying reunions over drinks and food. In the center of the dance floor, sexy Pacha dancers stood poised like mannequins.
Drawing particular attention was a lone dancer who, for reasons unknown, wore Pacha's cherry logo on their head, resembling an anime character. Such foreign sensibilities are amusingly beyond comprehension (laughs).

A Snapshot of the Current Dance Music Scene!
Midnight. The DJ Awards ceremony officially began, with DJ sets by Lenny Ibizarre, one of Ibiza Chillout Lounge's compilers and the founder of the DJ Awards, and presentations by MTV favorite Des Paul. The audience was electrified by performances from Danish singer Ida Corr and Nalaya, a vocalist active in Ibiza events like "SuperMartxe," which gained attention when Paris Hilton appeared in its promotional video.
The awards ceremony commenced with the downtempo category, followed by the announcement of winners in various genres. Notably, Japanese company "Pioneer" received an award in the technology category, bringing joy to Japanese attendees. The most anticipated awards went to Deadmau5, who won both the International DJ and Electro House categories, and Swedish House Mafia (Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello), who secured the House and Best Party awards, taking home two accolades each.
Judging by his expression in the photo, Axwell looks delighted (laughs)! Deadmau5's distinctive headwear was also quite memorable.
As the award recipients descended from the stage, they made brief appearances for the waiting media. Their reactions varied, from exuberant individuals who started dancing, perhaps already tipsy, to more reserved figures who simply offered a shy smile.
The hour passed in a flash, yet it encapsulated the essence of Ibiza and the dance music scene for the year. For inspiration for your next Ibiza nightlife experience, be sure to check it out!
