Hiroko Takahashi | #009 Hiroko Takahashi's Transmission Base
Riko Takahashi's Launchpad #009
The first building of '2k540 AKI-OKA ARTISAN,' a complex housing approximately 50 creator-run shops and ateliers, has been completed under the elevated tracks between JR Okachimachi and Akihabara stations. HIROCOLEDGE has moved into '2k540 AKI-OKA ARTISAN,' conceptualized as an 'ARTISAN = town of craftspeople.'

HIROCOLEDGE SHOP Opens for a Limited Time, June 25 - July 4
My work is to create 'things' and 'actions' that serve as small sparks for people to contemplate. It's not merely about creating beauty for its own sake, but about conveying various ideas through these objects.
I will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. Therefore, I don't limit myself to any particular genre of creation. What I have built this time is a space that will serve as the base for my activities.
This space is part of the '2k540 AKI-OKA ARTISAN' project, developed by JR East Urban Development, which is scheduled for a grand opening in December 2010, transforming the elevated railway space between Akihabara and Okachimachi. I began moving in early April and have been gradually making modifications. The long, narrow space features three pillars supporting the elevated tracks. The ceiling height utilizes the full space under the tracks, with a loft in the central area.
This space serves as Riko Takahashi's atelier and gallery, the office for HIROCOLEDGE Inc., and the HIROCOLEDGE shop. All activities will take place here, making it a base for communication. Products, ideas, and communication are all born on the central steel desk, custom-made for this space.
Works are not limited to what can be seen and touched; my words and actions are also my expressions and creations. I hope this will be a place where many people can visit, experience, and feel my work.
