The 23rd Okinawa Marathon to be held on Sunday, February 15th

The Okinawa Marathon, one of Okinawa's two major city marathons, will celebrate its 23rd year on Sunday, February 15, 2015. To make this event more appealing to women, RunGirl, a collective of women from the media, fashion, and beauty industries who are also runners, will be supporting it as a partner.

The Okinawa Marathon course primarily runs through the urban areas of central Okinawa, passing by the World Heritage site of Katsuren Castle Ruins and even through Kadena Air Base. This offers a unique opportunity to experience diverse cultures over the 42.195 kilometers.
Furthermore, the course features continuous support from spectators and numerous private aid stations offering a variety of refreshments like brown sugar, soba, and beef bowls. The "Chubuu Kuwachii (Feast) Festa," held concurrently with the marathon, allows participants to enjoy local delicacies.
For its 23rd iteration in 2015, the Okinawa Marathon will see the female runner collective RunGirl propose women-centric content to enhance the marathon's appeal. They will leverage their experience in organizing "RunGirl★Night," a running festival for women, by women, held annually in September at Tokyo's Odaiba.
They are planning to provide comfortable changing rooms, women-only restrooms, and relaxation booths before and after the run, with stage events also scheduled post-race.
Additionally, "Tabira," which proposes travel experiences for women by women from NTA, has collaborated with RunGirl to create the "Okinawa Marathon Runner's Tour" (http://www.nta.co.jp/tavira/hobby/rungirl-okinawa/). This tour offers a wealth of amenities for female runners, including a special breakfast box, cosmetic gifts, a dedicated powder room produced by RunGirl, and a free shuttle bus to the venue, ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable running trip.
