Aveda incorporates a high proportion of high-quality, organically certified plant ingredients and aromas into its products.
Let's explore Aveda's "Organic Data" (as of September 2006).

Since 1996, Aveda's factory in Minnesota has been certified as a company handling organically certified foods.

In 2002, Aveda purchased 5.18 tons of organically certified essential oils, a figure that increased to 24 tons by 2005. This represents 75% of all essential oils currently purchased.

The number of organically certified essential oils handled has expanded from just 15 types in 2002 to 71 types today.

In 2004, Aveda launched a professional product featuring a set of 25 organically certified essential oils called "Pure Essence." This product allows for traceability, identifying the specific farms where all the oils were sourced.

In 2005, Aveda used a total of 119 organically certified ingredients, comprising 48 organically certified plant ingredients and 71 organically certified essential oils. This means that 40% of the plant ingredients Aveda uses are organically certified, and 75% of its aroma ingredients are organically certified essential oils.

Lavender fields in Bulgaria

Aveda's purchases of organically certified jojoba oil, rosemary oil, ylang-ylang oil (from Madagascar), and organically certified Bulgarian rose and lavender are the largest in the personal care industry worldwide.

Aveda offers three products made with 100% organically certified ingredients: Comforting Tea, Aveda Comforting Loose Tea, and All Sensitive Body Formula.

Through an innovative babassu surfactant system, Aveda uses three types of babassu oil, extracted from babassu nuts harvested by indigenous peoples in Brazil with whom Aveda partners, as organically certified ingredients in various products. Aveda is committed to developing new plant-based ingredients.
