Inside a broken-down car, into a mysterious dream world──
A highly anticipated new installment has been released from Miu Miu's "THE MIUMIU WOMEN'S TALES" series, where internationally acclaimed female film directors capture the female perspective, crafting worlds that are at times beautiful, at times alluring, and always vibrantly fantastical.
Previous works in the series include "Powder Room" by Zoë Cassavetes, "MUTA" by Lucrecia Martel, " THE WOMAN DRESS" by Gia Coppola, and the much-talked-about " IT'S GETTING LATE" by Massy Tadjedin, starring Rinko Kikuchi. These films offer diverse portrayals of women. Now, Kim Soyeon, a screenwriter and director who won a Special Jury Prize at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival for "In Between Days," has helmed the latest work, "Spark and Light."

The story begins when the protagonist, Elizabeth, experiences a car breakdown on her way to visit her mother in the hospital. Stranded in the freezing cold with no houses in sight, Elizabeth can do nothing but patiently wait for a rescue team. As she drifts off to sleep, she enters a mysterious world where dreams and reality intertwine...
A distinctive feature of the film is how Miu Miu's Spring/Summer 2014 collectionis incorporated in a dreamlike manner. The bird and cat print motifs on the wallpaper of the house Elizabeth visits in search of help overlap with the prints on the dresses worn by her mother and her friends in the dream, becoming key elements that draw the viewer into the fantastical dreamscape.
"I've always had a strong fixation on family," says director Kim Soyeon. The solitary atmosphere of the majestic Irish landscape merges with the sensitive performance of Riley Keough as Elizabeth, creating a fantastical world. Another poetic and emotionally rich work has been added to the "Women's Tales" series.
