A journey through Gucci's history

Located in the heart of Florence, where Gucci was born in 1921, "Gucci Museo" breathes Gucci's philosophy of "FOREVER NOW" within the historic Mercanzia Palace, built in 1337 during the Medici era.

Spanning three floors and 1,715 square meters, the exhibition is distinctively organized not by era, but by Gucci's iconic motifs and symbols in separate rooms. The first floor is themed around travel. Alongside travel items like suitcases, which were part of the founder Guccio Gucci's very first collection, many pieces designed for the jet-setters who propelled Gucci's global fame from the 1950s to the 1970s are displayed.

The journey through Gucci's history continues on the second floor. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in archives themed around Gucci's icons and symbols. The "Handbags" theme, a testament to Gucci's superior design and craftsmanship, showcases bag models from various eras that still exude a fresh allure. Other themes include "Flora World," "Evening," and "Precious."

Furthermore, the second floor also features a contemporary art space, introducing works by carefully selected artists in collaboration with the Pinault Collection. Adjacent spaces present contemporary movie art and video installations, alongside documentary films supported by Gucci's production funding.

The permanent exhibition leads to the third floor's "Logomania," exploring the evolution of the GG logo. The story of the timeless symbol, "GG," unfolds here. The final theme, "Lifestyle & Sports," concludes with a tribute to various items and iconic designs inspired by the worlds of sport and leisure.

A cafe, museum shop, and gift shop are also attached.

The cafe on the first floor, open to locals, offers healthy menus centered on organic ingredients from the region. Adjacent is a bookshop operated with the cooperation of Rizzoli. The gift shop sells items bearing the "Gucci Museo" logo, such as fragrance candles, bookmarks, tote bags, and stationery, perfect for souvenirs.

Additionally, the Icon Shop offers exclusive icon collections, such as the New Jackie, New Bamboo, and Horsebit loafers designed by Creative Director Frida Giannini, available only here.

Admission is 6 euros, with 50 percent of the proceeds donated to the city of Florence to protect and restore artistic heritage.

"We have wanted to showcase the iconic products and motifs found in Gucci's archives, along with the wonderful stories behind them. This 90th anniversary year felt like the perfect opportunity to create a special space for the first public display of our archival treasures," says Frida Giannini. "Gucci Museo," the culmination of Gucci's anniversary year, is poised to become a must-visit new landmark for anyone visiting Florence.
