Focus on Overall Silhouette: Item Volume and Trouser Length
“The image of a Ron Herman style icon is a natural, healthy, and joyful adult woman with a cute smile. This season, under the theme 'ANGELENO IN THE UK,' we propose a style that mixes the traditional British aesthetic with Ron Herman’s foundational style, as if a Los Angeleno were traveling through the UK,” says buyer Yukari Negishi, who focused on CÉLINE’s pre-collection.
“I focused on the overall silhouette, such as the volume of the items and the length of the trousers, as seen in this coordinated look of a tight check jacket, a burgundy mohair knit, and slim cropped pants.”
“In London in the 1960s, the keyword was 'MODS'! We expressed the balance of a '60s Mods boy's style using Ron Herman's signature items. The defining element of this look is the RH VINTAGE corduroy cropped pants, which achieve the unique length balance of a 'mod boy.' And the dress socks from BLEUFORET peeking out from the hem are the 'key' to the coordination. While the balance of all items is important, the feet are the most crucial point this season. Pairing dress shoes with socks is, I believe, the most season-appropriate styling.”
Retro British Style, Styled by Los Angelinos

“The knee-length skirt (denim) with a '60s retro feel is a must-have item this season. Layering a Liberty print shirt from the UK with a casually finished cashmere knit cardigan in a beautiful deep green adds a 'good girl' impression. For footwear, we paired it with clogs in a deep red that evokes an autumnal mood, creating a look inspired by a story of a Los Angeleno traveling the UK, drawing inspiration from the local culture, visiting Portobello Market, and styling it in their own unique way.”
Step Back from the Mirror and See the Whole Picture
The unique styling proposals, rich with narrative, spark the imagination, making one want to go shopping immediately. But why not consult your closet, taking inspiration from buyer Negishi’s styling tips?
“Above all, what’s important when styling is 'balance.' Truly stylish people have a good balance of various elements like size, color, silhouette, and combination. Whether it’s adding accessories, arranging your hair, or applying makeup… don’t just focus on one part; look at the whole. You’ll surely discover things like, ‘For this outfit, just earrings would be better than a necklace,’ or ‘Orange lipstick matches the overall look better,’ or ‘Rolling up the shirt sleeves might give it a more relaxed feel.’ Stepping back from the mirror to see the entire look and consciously considering additions and subtractions to the coordination is a step towards becoming a sophisticated dresser!”
