Sumptuous Costumes Adorning 1920s Society

Prada and Miu Miu, whose designers collaborated with director Baz Luhrmann and legendary costume designer Catherine Martin on the costumes for "The Great Gatsby"—set for release in Japan on Friday, June 14th—will present an exhibition at Prada Aoyama. This exhibition will feature approximately 40 cocktail and evening dresses, inspired by Prada and Miu Miu's collection looks from the past 20 years, specially displayed at Prada Aoyama.

The collection includes knee-length dresses with fringed gold sequins, and pale pink silk-linen dresses with accents of gold, metal, and delicate embroidery on the bodice and waist, all embodying the linear silhouettes characteristic of the 1920s. Also featured are long dresses tailored from pan-velvet with small sequins on the shoulders and bustline, and fringed glass beads at the waist, creating a resplendent ensemble befitting the glamorous 1920s society depicted in the film. A knee-length dress with brown and black borders on gathered luxe material is inspired by the Prada Spring/Summer 2011 collection.




A bustier-adornedラジミール dress, featuring fringe of pearls and stones, combines 1920s-inspired silhouettes with modern materials and embroidery.
A silk dress with fox fur and rosary bead fringe at the waist, and fur on the one-shoulder strap, boasts a very elegant diagonally cut skirt. Other highlights include a burgundyラズマイア weave dress with a modern twist on a 1930s silhouette, and a bottle-green double satin long dress adorned with velvet embroidery, rosary beads, and sequins.
