St. James: The Epitome of French Marine Style

The town of Saint-James, located in the Normandy region of northern France, has flourished as a center of the textile industry since the era of William the Conqueror.
The history of the Saint-James company dates back to the late 19th century when Léon Legallais, the mayor of Saint-James at the time, founded a wool factory named after the town.

Using high-quality wool from sheep raised on the tidal flats of Mont Saint-Michel, they produced slim-fit long-sleeved sweaters and undergarments for fishermen and sailors, knitted tightly to retain heat. Their durability and practicality were embraced by merchant sailors and the French Navy working in the rough seas between Brittany and the English Channel, eventually earning them the nickname "the second skin of sailors." The collaboration collection with St. James, available exclusively at Coach stores, is based on the marine aesthetic of St. James, characterized by its iconic stripes, and Coach's casual yet sophisticated design. All items feature a special "SAINT JAMES for COACH" logo.
