Expressing the Traditional, Elegant Beauty of Japanese Women

For 40 years since his debut as a designer in 1972, Yohji Yamamoto has led the global fashion scene with innovative designs born from his rebellion against established notions of fashion. He will now present an installation titled "Art Complex by Yohji Yamamoto A Beauty Looking Back" at The Stage, on the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building. The theme is "A Beauty Looking Back." Yamamoto will express the "back of a woman," a motif he has long pursued, through paintings he has newly taken up himself. These works will be unveiled to the world for the first time.





Additionally, in collaboration with Manga Designers Lab., known for their manga-style advertisements, special goods will be offered, including a Rubik's Cube and canvas bag featuring a girl motif rendered in manga style. Postcards and handkerchiefs printed with works exhibited at the Yohji Yamamoto Aoyama store's painting exhibition last year will also be sold. Furthermore, a limited edition painting exhibition and order service will be held at the venue, featuring two "Beauty Looking Back" paintings drawn with ink and a one-of-a-kind shirt dyed with ink.
