41 'Working Women' Photographed by Roland Keil

The 41st 'Working Woman' Selected Through Public Recruitment

Since its launch in 1972, Y’s has consistently created clothing for working women with independent values, unbound by trends, based on the concept of women wearing men's clothing. To commemorate the brand's 41st anniversary, Roland Keil has photographed 41 "Women on the Move"—women of diverse professions, ages, and nationalities—wearing Y’s, capturing them in the present day. These photographic works will be exhibited alongside limited-edition Y’s items at East Park on the 4th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building for one year.

The first series features unique women from a wide range of fields, including singer and actress Mari Natsuki, actress Ai Hashimoto, figure skater Fumie Suguri, and jazz orchestra composer and conductor Maria Schneider, all dressed in Y’s Spring/Summer 2013 collections. Throughout the year, working women active in various other genres will be featured. The 41st "Working Woman" will be chosen through a public call for participants, with a live photo session planned. These works will also be showcased on the Y’s website and at other stores. In conjunction with the event, a limited edition of 100 collaboration mugs between Y’s and Fire King will be sold at the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building.

Furthermore, on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, the first standalone store for "REGULATION Yohji Yamamoto," a new line from Yohji Yamamoto launched for Spring/Summer 2013, opened on the 3rd floor of JR Osaka Mitsukoshi Isetan.

Born from the striking originality of Yohji Yamamoto's designs, this is Yohji Yamamoto's uniform, allowing each wearer to create their own individual style. For Spring/Summer 2013, the collection explores uniforms—a theme Yohji Yamamoto has favored since his youth—featuring military-inspired jackets, coats, all-in-ones, and suspender pants.

Don't miss the "Women on the Move" photo exhibition, an homage to women living today, and the new "REGULATION Yohji Yamamoto" shop, where you can experience Yohji Yamamoto's new creativity.
