Spring Summer 2017 Paris Haute Couture Collection

The Paris Haute Couture Collection begins with Chanel. Coco Chanel's salon was recreated within the Grand Palais. The Métiers d'Art collection, presented in December, was shown at the Ritz Hotel, evoking the atmosphere of people gathering in lobbies and restaurants. The café society, with women at its center, gathered in salons and hotels, highlighting the fashion.

Where Silver Light Intersects――Chanel Haute Couture Collection

This is the Spring Summer 2017 Paris Haute Couture Collection. The Spring Summer collection has begun, despite the sub-zero temperatures each day.

Chanel set up a mirrored stage in the Grand Palais. A cylinder erected in the center of the circular stage reflected the catwalk like a kaleidoscope. This staging was inspired by the spiral staircase in Chanel's haute couture salon on Rue Cambon.

The collection opened with tweed suits. A leather belt cinched at a slightly high waist added a gentle, conscious touch. Tucks forming an 'eight' shape at the waist created the silhouette. The looks were completed with matching tweed canotiers, silver pumps, and striking pearl anklets. Silver metallic dresses appeared one after another, with ostrich feathers adorning rhinestones to create a sense of softness and flowing lines. A white bustier dress paired with a lace cape was elegant—a favorite look. For the finale, Lily-Rose Depp, a Chanel ambassador, made a graceful appearance in a pale pink voluminous ruffled dress.

Glamorous Parisian Café Society――Métiers d'Art Collection

Two days after the couture show, the Chanel Métiers d'Art collection was unveiled in a room at the Hôtel Ritz named COCO SWEET. This room was created during last year's renovation, inspired by Coco Chanel's later years living at the Ritz. Métiers d'Art is a collection presented annually in December, showcasing the skills of the artisans under Chanel's umbrella. It is ready-to-wear infused with abundant couture techniques. The 2016/17 Métiers d'Art Collection, titled 'Paris Cosmopolite,' featured glamorous and elegant pieces inspired by the café society that gathered at the historic Ritz Hotel. The items are real, and the techniques are couture-inspired. Denim is enveloped in silk tulle with embroidery. A look featuring a cashmere knit with lamé embroidery on the epaulets paired with a tweed skirt is both cute and fresh.
