Prada's Surprise Screening of Short Film at Cannes Film Festival

At the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, which recently concluded to great acclaim, Prada made a surprise debut of the fashion short film "Therapy," directed by Roman Polanski.

A 3.5-Minute Film of Irony and Wit, Highlighting Prada's Playful Spirit

Officially selected for the 2012 Cannes Film Festival in the Classics section, Prada's short film "Therapy" was screened as a surprise, with director Roman Polanski, Nastassja Kinski, and festival director Thierry Frémaux in attendance. This surprise screening was the brainchild of Polanski and Frémaux himself. "Therapy" was shown before the restored film "Tess."

The story, full of irony and wit, unfolds between a patient played by Helena Bonham Carter, who arrives for therapy in a gorgeous Prada fur coat, and her therapist, played by Ben Kingsley, who is captivated by the coat. At the end of the short film, the words "PRADA SUITS EVERYONE" appear, showcasing Prada's allure in a way not typically seen in their collections.

Director Roman Polanski, who helmed this short film, commented,
"Playfulness and ideas came to life through friendship and mutual respect. When Prada asked me to shoot a short film, I didn't think I could truly express myself. But once we started, I was given complete freedom, reunited with my favorite collaborators on set, and had a wonderful time."

He also added, "The opportunity to discuss what the contemporary fashion world signifies, and the fact that it comes with many stereotypes, is both fascinating and a little perplexing, but undeniably significant. It's exciting that there's still room for irony and wit, and Prada is certainly one of them."
