THE LOOK OF SPORT: Laura Enever (Australian Surfer)

Raised in Australia, Laura began as a dedicated gymnast, but at nine years old, she was captivated by surfing and chose to focus on the ocean, unbound by land. At just 19, she is already living a fulfilling life through the sport of surfing, experiencing travel, excitement, and challenges, moving forward with energy. While surfing is her passion, more than that, it is her ticket to life. Experience is Laura's driving force.

Full of inspiration, adventurous, and incredibly approachable, Laura. 19 years old.

At 19, Laura Enever has traveled the world, surfed many times in places like Bali, and starred in Nike's first video featuring a female surfer, "Leave a Message?". She possesses a youthful innocence fitting her age, a free spirit, and an demeanor that is mature and composed beyond her years.

Thanks to surfing, Laura has achieved financial success, even buying her own apartment. When she's not traveling the globe, she returns to Australia to live with her close-knit family. Laura has a brother who is a surfer, though not a competitor, and he often accompanies her as a guardian. Even when far from home, she always feels a sense of closeness to it.

Outside of surfing, like many 19-year-olds, Laura loves boys (her boyfriend is a surfer living in Hawaii), chatting, dancing to trending pop songs, shopping, and shoes.

When not in a bikini, she dresses in flowing blouses, shorts, and wedge sandals. She is an exciting, ambitious, yet very approachable and friendly girl whose energy is infectious. When with friends, she is the center of attention. In photos, Laura is always in the middle, the life of the party, and enjoying herself.

Laura is very relaxed in New York.

During the competition season, Laura trains by surfing at least twice a day, while also engaging in cross-training such as cycling and running four to five times a week. She also loves snowboarding and skating. When not training, she surfs whenever time and location permit. When not surfing, she is like any other teenager, an active girl easily moved by her surroundings. New York is no exception. It's a place Laura has always dreamed of visiting, with so much to absorb.

Like many, especially athletes, breakfast is an important meal for Laura. While she'd be content eating burritos every morning, in New York, she starts her day at a trendy downtown cafe with coffee and a healthy granola bar and milk, preparing for a day of urban adventure. The relaxed atmosphere of the cafe suits her perfectly, as does her all-black Nike attire. Wearing large sunglasses, her phone on the table, she appears as relaxed as a regular patron.

Her first visit to New York was a 24-hour stay for a photoshoot for the Nike Women "Make Yourself" campaign. Even top athletes can be starstruck when meeting other athletes. Laura was no exception. She found herself among world-class photographers, legendary athletes in their respective sports, and felt a sense of awe.

Laura visits a Nike store in New York to shop. Focused on the latest gear, she chooses a red tennis dress, excitedly planning to wear it for her next surf session. Without even trying it on, she moves on to look for sneakers.

She is also aware of her power to inspire.

Laura may have a long career ahead of her as a surfer, but she is also open to other opportunities that may arise from it. For now, she has put university on hold. Her life so far has been her education, and she is grateful for it. Understanding that surfing has opened up possibilities, and that these possibilities are constantly expanding, she is determined to continuously refine herself, not only in sports but also outside of them, by bravely tackling new challenges and absorbing as much as she can.

Though humble, Laura is also aware of her power to inspire and wants to use it constructively for others, perhaps through charity work or documentary-style real-life experiences. She suggests ideas like having someone accompany her on her travels, documenting her life, and showing others how to incorporate activity into their daily lives or make it a part of their lifestyle.

Sales of surfboards, shorts, and wedge sandals are sure to skyrocket, and she will have a broad positive influence on many young women. Of course, her male fan base will likely grow too. What Laura does for herself benefits everyone else.
