The "Air Force 1" by Virgil Abloh, born from the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Nike, will appear at a Sotheby's auction. A set of special-looking sneakers and a pilot case, limited to 200 pairs, will be offered. The auction period is from Wednesday, January 26, 2022, to Tuesday, February 8.

General sales planned in different colors from the auction models
The "Nike Air Force 1," released in 1982, remains one of the essential models in sneaker history, even as it celebrates its 40th anniversary.
The Louis Vuitton Men's Spring/Summer 2022 collection was announced in June 2021. For this collection, Virgil Abloh collaborated with Nike to create the "Louis Vuitton and Nike Air Force 1" by Virgil Abloh.
It has been announced that 200 pairs of "Air Force 1" by Virgil Abloh sneakers will be offered at the upcoming Sotheby's auction.
These special sneakers are available in a wide range of sizes from 5-18 (Japanese sizes 24.5-31cm), with a starting bid of $2,000.
The design is characterized by its use of precious calfskin leather throughout, blending the classic codes of the trainer with the iconic logos and materials of Louis Vuitton, creating a look that pays homage to hip-hop culture, embodying Virgil Abloh's vision.
Additionally, Louis Vuitton's signature Monogram and Damier patterns are incorporated, creating an item that allows one to instantly recognize the distinct identities of both Louis Vuitton and Nike.
Furthermore, a special Louis Vuitton pilot case made of Taurillon Monogram leather is included. This item, also featured in the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2022 collection, recreates the Maison's archives with an iconic orange colorway.
It features Louis Vuitton's classic S-lock, finished in white metal. A luggage tag shaped like Nike's "Swoosh" logo is also attached. The interior of the case is lined with a cushioning system, ensuring a snug fit for shoes of any size. This is a limited edition item obtainable only through this auction.
These sneakers are also scheduled for general release after the auction. They will be available in limited quantities through Louis Vuitton's store network. They will be released in colorways different from those offered at the auction, priced in line with the minimum bid.
This auction serves as the kickoff for a series of events Louis Vuitton plans to hold over the course of one year starting in January 2022. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Virgil Abloh "Post-Modern" Scholarship Fund.
In partnership with the Fashion Scholarship Fund, the foundation supports the education of academically gifted students who are Black, African American, or of African descent.
Before his passing in November 2021, Virgil Abloh, as Louis Vuitton's Men's Artistic Director, was involved in launching related events, and this auction is held in collaboration with his family.
