Text Trading Company's sneaker select shop, atmos, upcycles materials from NIKE sneakers to foster a new sneaker culture.
We can no longer afford to rely on the earth's bounty and act as if resources are infinite. Thus, SPACE HIPPIE is an exploratory footwear collection inspired by life on Mars, where resources are limited and resupply missions are impossible.
The upper is made from recycled polyester, while the sole uses shock-absorbing materials from NIKE's fastest racing shoe, ZOOM X, and NIKE GRIND, a blend of finely crushed NIKE sneakers. The plain shoebox is also made from reusable materials that can be used for shipping, designed for environmental protection by allowing direct application of shipping labels.
To commemorate this release, five accounts—atmos, atmospink, UNDEFEATED, BAIT, and X-girl—have collaborated on an upcycling project. Furthermore, as an atmos initiative, they are selling remade T-shirts featuring overprints on past sample T-shirts. The designs incorporate artwork by GUCCIMAZE and COIN PARKING DELIVERY, graphic artists highly popular among young people, as well as designs by BOTANIZE, a shop gaining attention for its unique, large-rooted plants.
To celebrate the launch of this product, starting Saturday, May 22, 2021,atmos-tokyo.coma special page will be released on the site, where sales are currently underway.
