Spring is for Sheer. The Chicness of Playing with Light.
Sheer pieces are catching my eye. They appeared frequently in the 2016 Spring/Summer collections. The key isn't just wearing sheer fabrics, but rather considering what you wear underneath to add depth to your look and enjoy the contrast of patterns and colors.
Moncler Gamme Rouge, Designed by Giambattista Valli
Moncler Gamme Rouge is the luxury line of Moncler, designed by Giambattista Valli. The collection venue was carpeted in green, and light coats and dresses made of white organza adorned with appliqués and embroidery made an appearance. A vibrant red swimsuit was layered underneath for a casual, sporty finish. Pairing with shorts or knitwear would also create a fresh, on-trend look. Gamme Rouge is scheduled to be sold at the newly opened Moncler Ginza store.
Stella McCartney's Stylish Sheer Dresses
Stella McCartney's sheer dresses are also quite stylish. My favorite is the striped knit tube dress. The hem of the bold red-and-white or yellow-and-white bias-striped tube dress forms a loop, layering over the dress itself which is folded in two. The reverse bias direction creates a color change, allowing a single, simple dress to express various facets.
Dries Van Noten: Elegantly Styling the Tattoo T-shirt
A noteworthy item from Dries Van Noten is the tattoo T-shirt. These are snug shirts in a nude color adorned with bold tattoo prints in purple or fuchsia. In the collection, they were paired with satin bra tops or layered over print dresses. Despite the tattoo motif, they are, as expected from Dries, refined and elegant. Wearing them directly on the skin or layering them allows for a contemporary, stylish coordination.
