1950s America: Gas Stations and Feminine Icons
Car prints that look like they're from a comic book, leather patches shaped like cars on skirts and bags. Flame motifs from American cars, and flashy embellishments on shoes reminiscent of taillights—The Prada Spring/Summer 2012 collection, developed under the themes of "Cars and Femininity" and "Sweet," offers a playful pop art bursting with a sense of fun within a feminine image. It delivers fresh surprise and positive power.
For the released Spring/Summer 2012 campaign movie, Steven Meisel was appointed director. He is an emerging photographer who showcases innovative creativity in Prada's advertising campaigns. Cars set against a brilliant blue sky, modernist architecture, and gas stations symbolize postmodernism, where new perspectives intersect with economic prosperity. The narrative woven by sexy blondes, captivating brunettes, and feminine icons expresses the message embedded in the Spring/Summer collection.
