Special Denim Crafted with Meticulous Attention to Cotton and Thread

Since Nicola Formichetti, who grew up in Japan, took the helm as Creative Director for the Fall/Winter 2013 collection, Diesel's connection with Japan has deepened. It is with this strengthened bond that Diesel presents its first-ever denim produced in Okayama.

The men's denim model, "BUSTER," is a revival of selvedge denim, the first type produced in Japan. It utilizes cotton grown in Forres, Mexico, at an altitude of 1200 meters near the US border. The dyeing process replicates the original indigo techniques used when denim first emerged in Japan, resulting in a dry, robust texture. The deep rise and tapered leg from the knee create a sharp silhouette. The design achieves a worn-in, used look through intermediate processing that whitens only the surface, expressing overall fading and wear.

For women, the regular-fit straight model "RIZZO" is introduced. Crafted with yarn spun at the slower pace of 1950s production speeds, this denim boasts a natural feel. The taper from the knee creates a natural, three-dimensional shape.



Unlike the uniform texture produced by today's computer-controlled methods, this fabric's volume and surface roughness are achieved by weaving with low tension at a slow speed, allowing it to develop character with wear. While incorporating feminine design elements, it also exudes Diesel's signature masculine spirit.

These two denim styles are presented in special packaging and are available at nine stores nationwide, including those in Ginza, Shibuya, Osaka, and Fukuoka. This special denim, born from the collaboration between Diesel and Okayama's workshops, renowned for their technical prowess and high quality, is sure to enrich our daily lives.
