Deconstructing Classic Style with a Modern Twist
During the July couture collections, the ready-to-wear '12-13 Cruise lines (equivalent to early spring collections in Japan) are unveiled. Lanvin's cruise line featured fresh silk tweed tunics in shades of green and orange.
This fall, dresses crafted with abundant couture techniques and voluminous skirts take center stage. White, black, and navy blue will serve as essential base colors.
With hemlines falling to the knee, I'd pair them with colored tights and booties. For colored tights, I recommend bordeaux, moss green, or a pinkish beige called 'tortora.' Many popular brands are releasing booties featuring faux fur trim. Deconstructing classic style with a modern twist. That's the look I want to try this fall.
Nina Ricci's cruise line presented romantic dresses and skirts perfect for pairing with high-gauge knits. Designer Peter Copping, formerly of Marc Jacobs' maison, infuses sweet details like ribbons and lace into a girlish aesthetic, elevated with Parisian couture techniques for an elegant finish.
This fall, they presented coquettish styling by combining materials in bordeaux and pink beige. Couture-inspired pieces are particularly captivating right now.
