“Eating delicious food is about enjoying life!”
Hello, how are you? This is Catherine Malandrino. Following up on my last entry, I’d like to share more of my favorite spots in New York, with a special focus on places to eat.
For me, "food" is──An essential element for energy and love, and a vital part of daily life. Going out to eat is about enjoying the atmosphere, the food, the fashion, the conversation – everything. Eating delicious food makes life more enjoyable, leaving you feeling fulfilled and happy.
When I choose a restaurant or bar, I prioritize the overall atmosphere. It’s important that the people there, the interior design, the owner’s personality, the taste, and the music all align with my taste, and that the space itself is enjoyable!
I also love discovering new places. I often get invited to new or buzzed-about spots, so I go with friends who have a great sense of style. And if I like a place, I’ll keep going back.
First, I’d like to introduce one of my absolute favorites, the restaurant ‘Boutique Eat Shop.’ They even have my original cocktail, the ‘Malandrino,’ on the menu! Here’s the recipe: <1.5 oz Cognac, 1 oz Lemon Juice, ½ oz Cointreau, Champagne, Lemon Peel>. Please give it a try.

Next is ‘Red Rooster Harlem.’ This is the revival of a restaurant originally in Harlem, by the world-renowned and popular New York chef Marcus Samuelsson. I’ve been a regular since it opened in December 2010. I often celebrate friends’ birthdays here.

When I’m concerned about my health, I always go to ‘Market Café.’ The menu here is truly healthy! And of course, it’s delicious, so I always eat their salads when I’m dieting. Give it a try.

The restaurant ‘PASTIS’ is a bistro famously used as a filming location for ‘Sex and the City.’ It’s very close to my Meatpacking store, so I often use it for breakfast meetings on sunny days. I also love the casual atmosphere with its terrace seating.

This is ‘Schnipper’s Quality Kitchen,’ a fun 1950s rockabilly-themed hamburger shop that opened near my office. I love their burgers; they’re delicious.

And after work, relaxation is important too. When I want to unwind, I often go to ‘The Mark Hotel’ on Madison Avenue. I usually enjoy a glass of champagne there in a relaxed mood.

Whether casual or stylish, the excitement of discovering new places that suit the occasion is so much fun.──I love that feeling! When you come to New York, please be sure to visit them!
