Casting, Backstage, and the Show Itself!
Hello! It's Catherine Malandrino. How is everyone? As for me, the New York Collections have just concluded, and I'm feeling a sense of relief.
February is a month for celebrating love in my life,—as I mentioned in my last letter, and presenting a collection is also a way to feel that love.
Each season, I present a new collection with the love and support of my friends and family. It's a wonderful moment to share excitement and anticipation with them, surrounded by love! Love sparks creativity and brings joy, confidence, and strength to my own life. I hope your life is filled with radiant love today and always.
Now, this time, I'll report on the collection that has just been presented, from the preparation stages to the backstage on the day of the show, and the presentation itself.
The Malandrino Fall/Winter 2011-12 collection was held on February 13th at The Old New York Square Building. The theme was "Quai de la Tournelle," a promenade on the Left Bank of the Seine in Paris's 5th arrondissement. The inspiration came from legendary actresses and models who once embodied the Rive Gauche (Left Bank), such as Anouk Aimée, Catherine Deneuve, and Jane Birkin. For more details, please readVol.02
.
As preparations for the collection progress and the show draws near, we hold model auditions. During the presentation, we also conduct camera tests to select models who fit the image.
On the day of the show, while managing the hustle and bustle backstage, we continue with fittings to ensure the garments are presented in their best light. It's a great comfort to have friends and family come to offer encouragement during this time! For this show, items from my dear friend Selima, an eyewear and hat designer, were also featured. I'm also very excited about future collaborations with Selima, where we will create "Malandrino by Selima" for hats and "Malandrino by Selima Optique" for eyewear.
And then, the show begins! A mélange of chiffon blouses, menswear-inspired pants, fishnet embroidered dresses, and pleated skirts paired with Oxford shoes—The pure and sophisticated essence of a woman who enjoys both Parisian romance and New York rhythm, an eccentric and intelligent life—Enjoying fashion is about creating and expressing your own life!
See you next week—when I'll share my favorite spots in New York.
With love,—
Catherine Malandrino
