New Elegance for Day and Night: A Fusion of Style and Material
Founded in 1945 by Madame Carven and long celebrated as a haute couture house, CARVEN welcomed Guillaume Henry as its new designer for the Spring/Summer 2010 season. This transition marked the discontinuation of its haute couture operations and the relaunch of its ready-to-wear line. The debut collection garnered international attention, particularly in Paris, and since last autumn, the brand has become available in major department stores and select boutiques across Japan.

Designer Guillaume Henry, a graduate of Paris's Beaux-Arts, Duperre School, and Institut Français de la Mode (IFM), joined the Givenchy atelier in 2002. There, he served as senior stylist and first assistant to Riccardo Tisci for ready-to-wear. Following a three-year tenure at PAULE KA starting in 2005, this accomplished designer, at just 32 years old, now takes the helm as Artistic Director for CARVEN's women's ready-to-wear collection.
The revitalized CARVEN retains the brand's DNA inherited from its haute couture era, offering luxurious and fashion-forward creations with the refined craftsmanship of a heritage maison. Yet, designer Guillaume Henry's innovative approach to design and material selection achieves accessible price points suited to the times, positioning the brand as a notable force in contemporary style.
Silhouettes are youthful and modern, with precise cuts and a prevalence of shorter lengths. The dress code is pure, rigorous, and elegant. This collection, embodying a modern "Parisian chic," is both elegant and feminine, evoking a sense of the schoolgirl while presenting a new allure that is both delicate and bold.
A Journey Around the World, Inspired by the Louvre
This season's theme is a fantasy inspired by a Parisian schoolgirl reading Jules Verne's adventure novels and embarking on an imaginary world tour.
The collection features many pieces inspired by the ancient Mediterranean world, including journeys through ancient Greece, Rome, and the treasures of ancient Egypt. Original prints evoking ancient ruins, designs inspired by the volcanic eruption of Pompeii, marble prints reminiscent of bronze statues, and silk scarf prints depicting treasure maps symbolically adorn this season's collection.
Furthermore, the frequent use of blues inspired by the Mediterranean Sea and terracotta hues reminiscent of South American red earth, along with a sun-faded aesthetic in colors and materials, reflects the theme of a "journey to antiquity," expressing a vintage feel that has weathered time.
This Spring/Summer season, the brand's reach has expanded to approximately 30 stores, an increase from the previous Autumn/Winter season.
