A Brand That Continues to Astonish the World

MYKITA is an eyewear brand established in Berlin, Germany, in the autumn of 2003 by Harald Gottschling, Daniel Haffmans, Philipp Haffmans, and Moritz Krueger. The brand name's origin is said to stem from the fact that the location of the MYKITA company was formerly a children's care center. In East Germany, children's care centers were abbreviated as "Kita."

In the autumn of 2004, one year after the brand's founding, Collection No1 was introduced to the world at the Silmo International Eyewear Fair, the largest eyewear event. It was an innovative metal frame unlike any seen before. Characterized by a simple snap-fit joint that required no complex soldering and not a single screw, and using cut stainless steel sheets for the frame, it was astonishingly lightweight. Its flexible form provided an unprecedented level of comfort when worn.

Furthermore, Collection No2, presented at Silmo two years later, shifted to authentic acetate frames. This No2 collection replaced traditional hinges with a spring hinge based on the innovative Metal Injection Molding (MIM) method, creating a flexible hinge that could bend freely. By using traditional materials while creating an innovative piece with this No2 collection, MYKITA became an even more prominent presence.

Since then, MYKITA has released various collections. The DECADES collection, offering MYKITA's designs in classical forms. The LITE collection, achieving the lightest frames. And in 2009, the LUXE collection, the brand's most premium line, was introduced.

MYKITA's office and in-house workshop, "MYKITA HAUS," are located in the heart of Berlin, where all frames are handcrafted. All processes, from design to manufacturing, including marketing, take place under one roof. MYKITA is also dedicated to developing new materials. In 2010, they announced a new material called MYLON. Using polyamide powder, it not only accommodates any shape but also allows for the creation of three-dimensional structures that were previously limited by conventional spray casting methods, thanks to Selective Laser Sintering (SLS). With its excellent durability, adaptable fit achieved through its shape-shifting capabilities, and ultra-lightweight properties, MYLON is poised to send new shockwaves through the eyewear market.

The first store in Japan, offering MYKITA's full lineup, has opened in Omotesando, Tokyo. In this minimalist and sharp-designed store, you can experience the cutting edge of global eyewear.
