Lifestyle brand "RVCA" and apparel brand "BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS" have collaborated to release a capsule collection. Additionally, a limited-time pop-up store has opened at RVCA STORE SHIBUYA GALLERY (2F). The event runs until Sunday, May 9, 2021.

Artist baanai's artwork lends a unique atmosphere

California lifestyle brand "RVCA" and apparel brand "BEDWIN & THE HEARTBREAKERS," founded by Masafumi Watanabe, have collaborated on a capsule collection.

RVCA draws from four roots: art, skateboarding, surfing, and martial arts, offering original items rooted in the culture of artists and athletes.

BEDWIN, on the other hand, is a brand that consistently blends opposing elements—such as mainstream and indie, or formal and street—creating a style that expresses a unique, deconstructed look within a clean aesthetic.

PM Tenor, RVCA's founder and director, and Masafumi Watanabe have known each other for some time through mutual friends in the designer and artist communities. Their shared connection to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a part of their lifestyles, along with aligned philosophies on fashion and the principles of creating culture, led to this collaboration.

The collection's lineup primarily features items inspired by Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

This special collaboration collection transcends the boundaries of sport and art, featuring modern functional training apparel adorned with artwork by artist baanai.

The artwork for this collection was created by baanai, an artist known for his work with COMME des GARCONS. Based in Kugenuma, Kanagawa Prefecture, baanai draws energy and inspiration for his art from the ocean and surfing.

The offer for baanai to participate in this collection stemmed from a meeting with BEDWIN's Watanabe in Hawaii in 2018 during RVCALOHA. baanai's straightforward personality and creative energy are well-balanced with RVCA's brand concept and BEDWIN's approach to craftsmanship, resulting in this artistic integration.

The collection includes unisex T-shirts, hoodies, track pants, and judo uniforms, as well as women's leggings and bra tops.

A limited-time pop-up store is open at RVCA STORE SHIBUYA GALLERY. It runs until Sunday, May 9, 2021. We encourage you to visit.
