Don't Miss Continuer's Christmas Display!

Continuer, the eyewear shop familiar to the web shopping magazine "rumors," has unveiled a charming Christmas display.
The display, based on white and featuring bold motifs of glasses and stars, is the work of graphic designer Keisuke Unosawa. It will be on view from the Christmas season through January, with subtle updates.

A Display That Complements the Store's Products and Atmosphere

──Why did you ask Mr. Unosawa to create the display this time?

ContinuerWe initially met to see Mr. Unosawa's "Erotica" series, but as we talked, the conversation naturally extended to creating Continuer's cards and displays.

UnosawaContinuer's eyewear selection and store atmosphere aren't overly decorative. They also sell art books alongside glasses, so I thought my graphics could blend well with the artistic sensibility that permeates the surroundings.

──What was the design concept for this display?

UnosawaUsing glasses as a motif, I wanted to create something enjoyable for viewers. Everything, including the mobiles in the window, is handmade. Since the request was for a display spanning Christmas through January, I plan to add new decorations inside the store after the New Year.

──What do you consider when creating a display?

UnosawaI focused on the line of sight of people walking by and those arriving by car, aiming for strong eye-catching appeal. I hope people will stop, peek into the window, or even come back again.

Design as Communication

──You are well-known for your Christmas cards for MOMA (Museum of Modern Art), aren't you?

UnosawaIt's been 15 years for the MOMA Christmas cards. I worked on new designs this year as well.

──What is the appeal of working on cards?

UnosawaWhen you send a card, you write a message, right? I find it a rewarding job because it fosters rich connections between people.

──What are the characteristics of MOMA's cards?

UnosawaIt's the three-dimensional enjoyment. The surprise when opening the envelope. I pour my full artistic expression into my card work.

──This time, you've also created a Christmas card for Continuer.

ContinuerIt's a card with a star design, predominantly white, coordinated with the store's window display. It's truly lovely.

──Do you have a fondness for paper, Mr. Unosawa?

UnosawaI do love paper; it's an excellent material. It's easy to work with by hand—folding, standing, bending, hanging, pasting—and it's versatile and liberating. You can create fun things with ease.
