The Air of British Resort, Evoked by Refreshing Materials

"MACKINTOSH," a brand synonymous with British outerwear, continues to be cherished by discerning individuals. Its second line, "MACKINTOSH PHILOSOPHY," is a total collection that inherits the spirit of MACKINTOSH's superior craftsmanship and its classic yet contemporary aesthetic.

The theme for the 2014 Summer Collection is "SAFARI～a song of Africa～." Inspired by the 1985 film *Out of Africa*, it evokes the "safari," which flourished in the early 20th century as the most thrilling resort for the European aristocracy. At the time, Africa, then a European colony, was a hub for leisure activities in the great outdoors, such as sports hunting and game drives. The collection, built around the concept of a journey against the backdrop of the African landscape, offers an urban interpretation of elegant safari style.



Symbolizing the collection is a light, unlined jacket, inspired by the colonial and safari styles developed by the British in their colonies. The large-scale check pattern, yarn-dyed for a resort-like texture, is particularly striking. Bermuda shorts in the same material are also available, allowing for an impactful setup style.

For the summer season, items made from linen are also abundant. The tapered pants, featuring drawstrings made from the same fabric as the main body, are tailored with a single pleat. The silhouette, with ample room from the hip to the thigh, tapers from the knee down, creating an overall sleek impression. The V-neck T-shirt is 100% linen, specially dyed to achieve a washed-out texture. Its uneven appearance and elegant sheen give it a strong presence even when worn alone.

In addition to natural fibers like linen, the collection also utilizes high-tech materials such as cotton-polyester seersucker, a blend of natural and synthetic fibers. This summer collection offers dry textures, a sense of coolness, and high functionality.
