The theme of the renovation is the realization of 'the world's No. 1 lifestyle store'.──In March of this year, the 4th floor International Luxury floor and the 5th floor Business Closing floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building underwent a complete renovation and reopening. The Men's Building is advancing towards the vision of 'the world's best fashion museum' that Isetan Shinjuku set forth in 2012.

Floor 4: A Space to Discover the Answer to 'What is the Modern Gentleman?'

Upon ascending to the 4th floor via escalator, the International Luxury floor is now clearly organized with Italian style to the right and British style and the Premier Tailoring corner to the left.

'The theme for the renovation of the 4th floor is "Eternal",' says buyer Takuya Mabuchi.

'We offer a complete lifestyle proposal for the modern gentleman, encompassing everything from wear to shoes and accessories. Focusing on timeless value that can be cherished for a long time, rather than fleeting trends, we have introduced British style, which embodies the spirit of the British gentleman with his tradition of using fine things for extended periods.'

The Italian style area is adorned with Italian red lacquered fixtures, while the British style area conveys its world through dark, substantial fixtures.

Incidentally, the British style area also features a rare pair of black diamond cufflinks, the only one of its kind in Japan. 'This is one of the highlights, offering an experience akin to peering at exhibits in a museum. We've incorporated this as a way to express our concept of being the world's best fashion museum,' says buyer Mabuchi.

The Ultimate Destination for a Man: Bespoke

A 'Premier Tailoring Corner' has been introduced to fulfill requests for custom-made suits and jackets. Two young tailors are stationed here to provide bespoke services.

Buyer Mabuchi explains, 'In the Premier Tailoring Corner, we display garments in their basted state, pursuing an expression that delves into the essence of what men are particular about. Customers have responded positively to the renovated floor, finding it more spacious, cleaner, easier to navigate, and a place where they can discover interesting items.'

The theme for the renovation of the 5th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building is the realization of 'the world's No. 1 tailor clothing' sales floor. The keywords are 'Made to Measure,' 'New Business Style,' and 'Suits That Master the Essence.' Aiming to be a mecca for business wear, the focus is on suits.

A Fusion of European and Japanese Suit Culture

The 'stage,' referred to as a 'stage,' displays Made to Measure style examples, an enhanced lineup of trousers that are central to new business styles, and the revamped Isetan original suit line, 'ISETAN MEN’S.'──'The 5th floor Business Closing floor has been renovated with the aim of creating a space where customers can find 'everything about suits – size, material, style, grade, and purpose,' explains buyer Shoichi Ochiai.

First, the custom suits previously called 'Major Made' have been changed to the globally recognized 'Made to Measure.'

'Previously, ordering a suit involved selecting the fabric and deciding on the model. However, Isetan's approach to custom orders now begins with 'How do you want to be perceived? How do you want to be?' To facilitate this, we display 11 representative styling examples on a stage we call the 'stage.' In addition to this display, in our 'Cinema & Library' bar counter area, customers can enjoy coffee while looking through movies and books to envision the suit they desire,' he says.

For Made to Measure, we offer tailoring by eight Japanese tailors and house styles (pattern orders). We carry a wide range of styles and price points, from world-renowned tailors like Henry Poole and Liverano to Isetan Men's private brand. We also offer accessories such as buttons and cufflinks.

The Standard Business Style Proposed by Isetan Men's

In the center of the floor, we propose business styles that incorporate trendy elements and individuality, in addition to basic suits. Buyer Ochiai states, 'Business styles, including Cool Biz, are changing year by year. We have created a section that offers the standard for these changes. We present a variety of styles, from suits and jacket-slacks to denim and cut-and-sew items. Trousers are the centerpiece of styling; their importance increases as the range of coordination expands. We offer a diverse lineup as the core of mixed styles, so we hope customers will enjoy variousコーディネート.'

Furthermore, the ready-made suit corner features brand suits divided into four tastes – Italian, American, British, and European. This season also marks the debut of Isetan's private brand, 'ISETAN MEN'S.' High-quality materials, sleeves, collars, shoulder construction,──and sewing specifications that meticulously focus on comfort, all while pursuing the essence of ready-made suits, achieve high cost performance, with prices centered around 76,000 yen. Expectations are high for suits befitting active businessmen with an international presence.
