One Box Per Household: How About Using Them as Safes?
Launched in 2012, "Bcc:" is a project that reconsiders the characteristics and functions of corrugated cardboard boxes—familiar in storage, transport, and stacking—as well as the actions and environments surrounding them, aiming to create new products.
Kentaro Kuwabara, director of BEAMS T, explains, "It started with the idea that since BEAMS' parent company is a cardboard manufacturer, and as BEAMS T, a hub for T-shirt enthusiasts, we needed something to store T-shirts neatly and stylishly.—If it doesn't exist, let's make it." That's how "Bcc:" began. We want people to use 'cardboard,' which is often discarded or crushed and hidden after use, as part of their home or office interior, or for display storage. The printed words are also a key element. This time, the cardboard boxes come in two colors, white and beige, and have been significantly updated with changes to the specifications from the previous release."
Kimiaki Eto, director of PAPIER LABO., recommends, "Following the previous release, the second installment of the word series features the phrase 'Nothing valuable inside.' By printing this, even if you store valuable items, you won't have to worry about being targeted. These cardboard boxes effectively function like safes. How about one per household, as a safe?"
