CoSTUME NATIONAL is a brand that has always sought to fuse fashion with various cultures, including art, architecture, and design. CNAC, established in Aoyama in 2011, features an exhibition space and has hosted a diverse range of events, such as screenings of video works by the British Turner Prize artist Simon Starling.
The star of the show at CNAC this time is the Alfa Romeo "TZ3 Stradale." The TZ3 Stradale is a limited model planned for a production run of only nine units to commemorate Alfa Romeo's 100th anniversary and the 90th anniversary of Italy's prestigious carrozzeria, Zagato. Three units have been completed so far. Developed as the successor to the historic racing sports cars TZ1 and TZ2, it inherits the image of the TZ series, including its traditional Coda Tronca rear. With an 8.4-liter V10 engine producing 608ps/77.5kgm, it delivers world-class performance, making it a car that can be called a living legend.
The interior of the second unit was designed by CoSTUME NATIONAL designer Ennio Capasa. The essence of CoSTUME NATIONAL, known for its minimalist and sharp design, is masterfully integrated into the interior of this car, which exudes a strong Alfa Romeo identity.
At a talk show held during its Japanese debut with Norihiko Harada, who designed the TZ3's body, Capasa reflected on this collaboration:
"Alfa Romeo has characteristics that make it recognizable at a glance. When you hear the brand name Alfa Romeo, everyone conjures up a common image. This in itself is proof of its high value. Not many brands evoke such an image. In an era where globalization is making everything uniform, having such strong individuality and value is captivating. I believe experimental endeavors like this should be highly appreciated precisely because of our times."
This is a brilliant collaboration between two leading Italian brands. It is certainly worth seeing this rare car itself, and especially the fusion of its interior, designed by Capasa as a fashion designer.
