A Fusion of French and Japanese Culture

Founded in 1842, Dormeuil is a specialist in wool fabrics, initially importing them from Britain and selling them in France. This venerable house offers fabrics of exceptional quality in appearance, texture, and comfort. As a purveyor of extremely rare fibers, it continues to command immense respect from tailors worldwide.


For its Spring/Summer 2012 collection, "Tropical Amadeus," Dormeuil joined a project to plant cherry trees in Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture, which was devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake, through the general incorporated association "LOOM NIPPON." They also unveiled collaborations with Japanese brands using their fabrics, alongside special commemorative models befitting their 170th anniversary. The collaborating brands included 11 accomplished names such as John Lawrence Sullivan and Wacko Maria.




At the venue, "Shiho Sakura," a sparkling Japanese sake from Abe Kan Shuzo, a long-established brewery in Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture, produced by "LOOM NIPPON," was served. Performances, including a recital by the Satsuma Biwa player Tsurushin Tomoyoshi, conveyed a deep affection for Japan.


While centering its collections on the "classic" British gentleman's attire, unaffected by trends, Dormeuil has consistently incorporated fresh nuances and styles of the times. By interpreting French elegance and British touch through the ages, it has evolved into a "continuously evolving venerable house" capable of expressing them in their finest form.
