Y-3, designed by Yohji Yamamoto for adidas. The Autumn/Winter 2011-12 advertising campaign is inspired by the theme of the Y-3 collection: 'Escape'.—Riding horses, walking, venturing into hilly terrain——drawing attention as it reflects on the theme of the Y-3 collection.

To travel is to come home (Yohji Yamamoto)

Artists Collier Schorr and David Benjamin Sherry were tasked with a new interpretation of the Y-3 Autumn/Winter 2011-12 Collection, whose ultimate theme is 'the journey itself, not the destination'.

From this theme, they created not only photographs but also the image film "Beneath, Between, Beyond," which expands the definition of travel.

"Beneath, Between, Beyond"

In the image film "Beneath, Between, Beyond," Collier Schorr contrasts the hyper-saturated landscapes by photographer David Benjamin Sherry with two figures who seem to have arrived from another world. The film begins with a scene of a girl disappearing into a blue twilight and ends with a boy waking up, as if everything had been a product of imagination. They are sharing the same daydream, but in reality, the girl is a projection of the boy's imagination, and sunlight filters through the trees. He, too, is a wanderer... .

Regarding this season's collection, Yohji Yamamoto said, "To travel is to come home. We are always unconsciously wanting to go home. It is one of the most intense human desires."
