Experience the World of Sanyoyamacho: Supporting Japanese Shoemaking and Nurturing Young Artisans
Sanyoyamacho, a shoe brand dedicated to crafting “shoes for Japanese people, by Japanese people, made in Japan” based on the spirit of Japan, prioritizing quality above all else, will hold a pop-up shop from May 11 (Monday) in the Men's Shoe section on the B1 floor of Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building. The collection will feature the handmade model of Sanyoyamacho's signature dress shoe, the "Tomojiro," as well as casual shoes not typically available.

Exquisite Japanese Leather Shoes Rivaling Imported Goods
Born in October 2000 as "Yamacho-in Kutsu Honpo," specializing in high-end men's shoes, the brand relaunched as "Sanyoyamacho" in October 2001. Utilizing the finest materials and the masterful techniques of traditional Japanese artisans, it has garnered a devoted following as a total leather brand that expresses a Japanese worldview.
Sanyoyamacho's Flagship Model, "Tomojiro"
At this pop-up shop, the skills of Asakusa artisans converge on Sanyoyamacho's iconic "Tomojiro" model. The upper is sewn with finer thread and tension than usual, and the overlapping edges are meticulously thinned and rolled before being stitched – a "curl edge specification." The heel features a luxurious, seamless leather construction. The sole is attached using a "kyubun" (nine-tenths) finish by skilled craftsmen, ensuring excellent flexibility. The edges are finished with a distinctive "yahazu-gake" (arrowhead) detail, embodying the pinnacle of artisanal craftsmanship.
The R2010 last, a round-toe last introduced for Sanyoyamacho's 10th anniversary in 2010, is primarily used for the brand's premium line. Featuring a classic straight-tip design, a black-painted "karasu" sole finish, a stitched leather sole, and the brand's enduring last, this all-black aesthetic is undeniably handsome. This is an opportunity to purchase a unique iteration of the Tomojiro.
Prestige Line "Tomojiro" (R2010 Last) ¥129,600 (Reservations accepted only during the event period)
New Dress Sneaker "Kensuke"
The new "Kensuke" series combines a dressy upper with an original sneaker sole crafted by a renowned Italian manufacturer. Its sharp, square-toe silhouette is refreshingly modern. The last, R309, has been modified for dress sneakers, and the low-resilience insole provides a light and comfortable, sneaker-like feel.
Dress Sneaker "Kensuke" ¥37,800
Goodyear Welted Combination Shoes "Yasaburo"
The "Yasaburo" penny loafer, a staple in American style, retains its casual appeal while featuring a refined finish with a smaller heel cup for improved fit and a stitched leather sole. Seize this opportunity to acquire a pair perfect for the upcoming season.
Penny Loafer "Yasaburo" ¥73,440

The Sanyoyamacho pop-up shop will also feature the cemented leather sneaker "Yuu" (¥30,240) with a cowhide upper, the new loafer "Motomachi" (¥46,440), and the deck shoes "Hayama" (¥30,240).
An Isetan Men's buyer commented, "Sanyoyamacho is one of Japan's leading brands, with a production background that has supported Japanese shoemaking and a system for nurturing young artisans in its factories. Recently, their use of imported leather has enhanced the quality of the leather itself, and their proposals for color variations and antique-style finishes have improved dramatically. This pop-up shop will showcase many new Japanese shoes that are not merely classic, but innovative."
Embrace the summer's cool business style with not only their well-established business shoes but also casual shoes exuding adult elegance.
