Focus on Three Models on a New Last
The inspiration for this collection, by new Artistic Director Paula Gerbase, stems from the emotion she felt upon learning of the founder John Lobb's journey to London at the age of 22.
"In 1851, a farmer's son named John Lobb took his first step on a special journey. At 22, Lobb set out from his native Cornwall in southwest England for London, beginning his travels with only the boots he had made himself."—In homage to the experiences of John Lobb's extraordinary journey, new creations were unveiled, born from a fresh interpretation of that narrative.
Upon entering the presentation venue, set up in the Old Sessions House in Clerkenwell, a short distance from the center of London, one is immediately greeted by the three models symbolizing this collection: "MORVAL," "COMBE," and "GROVE."
Named After Towns Visited by John Lobb on His Journey
These three models, all utilizing the new last 0015, are entirely new designs that are visually distinct from current models.
"MORVAL" features John Lobb's iconic double monk strap design, something Paula was determined to express, focusing on "John Lobb's roots." It is crafted from buffalo leather and features an October sole.
"COMBE" is an ankle boot combining a lace-up front with a single monk strap, a novel design that garnered significant attention at the venue.
"GROVE" is a suede chukka boot with a dressy feel, featuring two eyelets, perfectly complementing the mossy display that evokes John Lobb's journey.
It's also worth noting that all three models are named after places John Lobb visited during his travels.
Sneaker "LEVAH" to be Pre-released in April
The next presentation features John Lobb's sleek sneakers, "LEVAH," and their high-cut counterpart, "CULVER." Both utilize the new last 0315.
These Italian-made sneakers will be available for pre-release starting in April exclusively at John Lobb directly managed stores. While white and navy are standard colors, sand beige will be introduced as a limited seasonal color for Spring/Summer. Furthermore, for the Autumn/Winter 2015-16 season, khaki and burgundy will be offered as limited seasonal colors, adopting a new style with evolving color lineups.
In the next report (3), we will introduce the Prestige Line, the Year Model scheduled for release in 2016, and models with the new last 0215.
