BALLY | Cohiba Hues: A New Palette for Bally's Leather Goods

GQ × OPENERS BALLY Men's SS10 COLLECTION

BALLY's Leather Goods in Cohiba Hue. Brian Atwood's Spring/Summer 2010 collection for BALLY naturally blends casualness and luxury while inheriting the brand's image. Here we introduce items in "Cohiba" hue from his collection, which is sadly his last this season.

Craftsmanship and Pure Quality

In his explanation of this season's theme, BALLY's Creative Director Brian Atwood mentioned, "Luxury that is inevitably born from craftsmanship and pure quality." This is one truth that perfectly captures the essence of luxury. Luxury is not meant to be ostentatiously displayed; it simply exists as it should. It may not align with designs that loudly proclaim brand names. In fact, BALLY's icon is the "Trainspotting" stripe, a color scheme symbolic of Switzerland. It's a smart "trick" that instantly identifies BALLY to those in the know. When used in conjunction with the contemporary arrangement of the crest, it even conveys a cynical confidence that seems to playfully mock uncritical brand worship.

The most striking manifestation of "craftsmanship and pure quality" is found in the shoes. The highest quality scrub leather is hand-printed, lending it a rich, antique-like character. Structural innovation comes from BALLY's signature flex sole, incorporated into the last of the Goodyear welted construction. However, the carefully calculated design of the upper strongly emphasizes its lightness.

This season, the leather collection features a particularly rich array of golf-related items. Golf has long been a part of BALLY's heritage, and with the introduction of items like the crest-adorned scorebook and ball cases, one can enjoy understated luxury even during countryside leisure.

BALLY's leather goods, imbued with a deep, flavorful Cohiba hue. These are exquisite pieces, perfect for the modern gentleman to subtly incorporate into his life.
