230 Items Displayed from an Extensive Archive
G. Lorenzi began in 1929 as a small shop founded by Giovanni Lorenzi and his wife, specializing in the sale and repair of knives and scissors. Their original knives, crafted by skilled artisans, garnered particular acclaim, leading to sales in 500 stores worldwide by the 1950s. A hallmark of their design was the use of luxurious materials such as stag and cow horn, fossilized walrus ivory, crocodile, and ebony for the handles.
Beyond knives, their lineup included a diverse range of products such as smoking accessories and lighters, grooming items like shaving tools, and brushes for shoes and clothing. Notably, they were among the first to stock "dunhill" smoking accessories.
The exhibition, held from January 12th to 15th, was made possible by dunhill's acquisition of G. Lorenzi's archives and nearly all existing products after the brand's poignant closure in 2014. The display featured 230 pieces meticulously selected by Aldo, Giovanni Lorenzi's son, from the archives, alongside historical photographs and illustrations.
The exhibition is scheduled to tour dunhill's flagship stores worldwide, beginning in Asia in the latter half of this year. Plans are also underway to offer a selection of these precious exhibits for sale. This initiative, born from dunhill's deep admiration for G. Lorenzi's philosophy and craftsmanship, represents a unique endeavor.
