Borsalino Opens at Daimaru Shinsaibashi
Borsalino, the world's premier Italian hat brand, has opened a Borsalino Bar Style shop on the 5th floor of the Daimaru Shinsaibashi Main Building's Men's Ready-to-Wear section. The store officially opened its doors on Saturday, February 20th.
For the Hat Novice, the Joy of Wearing; For the Connoisseur, the Pleasure of Choice
The 1969 French film "Borsalino," set in 1930s Marseille and starring the immensely popular Alain Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo, captivated audiences worldwide and cemented the idea that wearing a Borsalino was the ultimate mark of a man's status.
While the film's powerful impression and title often led to Borsalino being spoken of as the epitome of European and American dandyism and sophisticated masculinity, recent models now include many styles with narrower brims and lower, wider crowns that are easier for Japanese wearers to style, making them suitable for casual occasions as well.
Borsalino's story began in 1857 when Giuseppe Borsalino established a factory in Alessandria, Italy, bringing together only the most artistic felt hat craftsmen. Even today, 150 years later, Borsalino felt hats are crafted using the same methods as when the company was founded, continuing their legacy as a symbol of Italian elegance and the Borsalino style.
