New Boots Arrive for "Pierre" and "Démesures" Collections

If the category of "French shoes" exists, "esprit" would be the foremost element that sets them apart. And when speaking of esprit, "Berluti" is the name that immediately comes to mind.

This season, two new boots have been added to Berluti's "Sourires" (shoes by the current head, Olga Berluti), which showcase the artisan's handiwork in techniques like patination.

Building upon the "Alessandro" lace-up shoes and "Andy" loafers, which were its signature styles, the "Démesures Collection" has garnered immense support from Berluti enthusiasts. Olga's ambition to achieve the toe shape, previously only possible with bespoke orders, in ready-to-wear has now culminated in the first Chelsea boots of the Démesures Collection.

The most distinctive feature is the finish that "conceals" the rubber on the sides. Because leather panels cover it, the rubber is not visible except when putting on or taking off the boots. Perforations adorn the sides, encircling the Chelsea boot design. The vibrant lining is a signature Berluti touch.

On the sole, beneath the sharp-edged toe shape, the word "BERLUTI" is individually stamped by hand, a testament to the artisan's craft. You'll find yourself habitually crossing your legs while seated, simply to showcase this detail. These new boots combine beauty with functionality. The exquisite patinas adorning the Venezia leather add an even more refined elegance.

Pierre Collection

New boots have also arrived from the "Pierre Collection," which was first introduced in Japan this year. Viewed from the side, the ankle height, slightly slanted backward, along with the diagonally placed zipper, elegantly shapes the foot. The zipper pull is original, and the stitching is, of course, done by hand. The perforations, decorating the single piece of upper leather with a touch of "whimsy," are a mark of Berluti.

The rubber inserts on the leather sole, resembling "stepping stones," not only provide grip but also lend their name to the collection. They are inspired by the pebbles (pierre in French) that the protagonist of Charles Perrault's fairy tale scattered as a guide. These rubber pieces, arranged in the order of the "BERLUTI" logo, are not separate pieces attached to the base but are integrated with a thin rubber layer, over which the leather is carefully layered. This construction ensures durability.

This collection, created to become a future staple for Berluti, is characterized by its blend of classicism and modernity. This means that a single pair can adapt to various occasions, both formal and casual, depending on the wearer's TPO. Despite being boots, they are remarkably lightweight, thanks to the luxurious single-piece leather construction.
