Rags McGREGOR | Spring/Summer 2014 Collection
Rags McGREGOR
“SOCKO!” is street slang for “Awesome!” or “Cool!”
American Casual Summer Style
For this season's lookbook shoot, we propose 'a slightly dapper summer style that might elicit a “SOCKO!” from the youngsters hanging out in the city on a tropical night.' The keyword for Rags McGREGOR's Spring/Summer 2014 collection is “SOCKO!”.

The Setting: Florida in the 1950s
—What is the theme/concept for the Spring/Summer 2014 collection?
The setting is Florida, America's quintessential resort destination, in the 1950s. The keyword is “SOCKO!”. We propose a resort style that differs from Hawaii or the West Coast – something sophisticated yet a little bit gritty, with an undercurrent of rebelliousness or even unhealthiness.
The keyword “SOCKO!” is street slang meaning “Awesome!” or “Cool!”. It's also a play on words combining “SOCK” (to punch) and “KO” (knockout), used in boxing and other contexts to mean “a decisive blow”.
At Rags McGREGOR, we are developing a street-style, American casual summer look that suits the phrase “SOCKO!”.
—What were the points you focused on and want us to pay attention to in this season's lookbook shoot?
Every season, our visuals are in monochrome. This highlights the brand's key color, black, and its rugged, rebellious concept.
We envision a midsummer street scene, with water spraying from fire hydrants, rather than a beach. It's a slightly dapper summer style that might elicit a “SOCKO!” from the youngsters hanging out in the city on a tropical night, a style that suits a mojito better than a beer.
—What are the differences in styling, silhouette, and color compared to last year's Spring/Summer collection?
Last year's Spring/Summer theme was the style of a young Chet Baker, inspired by the photobook 'Young Chet,' capturing the essence of a 1950s modern jazz musician. This season's styling proposals offer a slightly more mature and lighthearted feel for spring, and a cool, cheerful vibe for the summer heat.
—What are the key looks (coordinations) for this season?
This season features numerous styling options with the key items: shirts and shorts.
Original Aloha Patterns Adorn the Summer
—What are the key items and key colors?
The key color is always "black."
Key items include three styles in original aloha pattern fabric (swing top, open-collar short-sleeve shirt, shorts), and an open-collar shirt in a brand-original check fabric, an update of the 1960s McGregor check.
Leather items delivered in February (MA-1, nubuck jacket, double rider's jacket), sarouel pants, lamb leather two-tuck shorts, and waist cross (worn accessory, assorted) made from combined used shirt fabrics.
—What "materials" did you focus on this season?
Two types of original aloha pattern fabrics (aloha guitar pattern, aloha girl pattern), and a brand-original check fabric, an update of the 1960s McGregor check.
