ABOUT HACKETT LONDON
While adhering to traditional British style, HACKETT LONDON's items never feel dated. They pursue evolution rather than change to suit the times. Some pieces in the collection are said to be the same as those from 20 years ago. Yet, founder Jeremy Hackett says,
HACKETT LONDON aims to support gentlemen's attire in all scenes, from crucial business and formal occasions to relaxed off-time spent enjoying sports. This spirit is thoroughly infused into every item.
Born in Devizes, Wiltshire, in the south of England in 1953, Jeremy Hackett would later found HACKETT LONDON. His father was involved in the textile decoration business, nurturing Hackett's knowledge of fabrics from a young age. He worked in a local clothing store in his teens before spending five years at the Savile Row tailor "John Michael."
In 1979, he met Ashley Lloyd Jennings, and they launched a menswear business. In 1983, they opened the first "HACKETT" store on New King's Road.
Initially, they sold high-quality vintage clothing and accessories, gaining popularity for their taste and quality. In 1985, they began designing, manufacturing, and selling their own menswear. Jennings and Hackett infused their knowledge and ideas of British style into their products. Soon, even those frequenting Savile Row began purchasing Hackett suits and accessories. By the late 1980s, they had acquired customers outside the UK, opening a shop in Madrid, Spain, in 1989. Today, they are popular not only in Europe but also in Asia, including Japan.
HACKETT LONDON also has strong ties to British sports. In 1987, a polo team sponsored by HACKETT LONDON was formed. In the 1990s, they became the official sponsor of the England Rugby team. When England won the Rugby World Cup in 2003, the players wore HACKETT LONDON suits.
They are also known as the first sponsor of the "Goodwood Festival of Speed," a world-renowned motorsports event held in the UK. They continue their inseparable relationship with motorsports today, maintaining a partnership with Aston Martin Racing and developing official wear collections.
Evolution Without Compromise
Every look in HACKETT LONDON's Autumn/Winter collection exudes Britishness. This is because all of it is rooted in British culture, from suits crafted with impeccable tailoring to styles for outdoor sports, which continue to be cherished as upper-class leisure activities.
From the HACKETT LONDON 2013-14 Autumn/Winter Collection
What makes this collection, unswayed by fleeting trends, so successful is partly that British style itself is orthodox, but more importantly, it's because HACKETT LONDON consistently creates items of high quality. The quality of their products steadily evolves with each passing season. This is a manifestation of the brand's will to lead the history of British style into the present.
