2013 Autumn/Winter CollectionFor fashionistas contemplating their style for the upcoming season, HANKYU MEN’S TOKYO marks the opening of its 2013-14 Autumn/Winter season. The theme for the opening luxury brands is “FRENETIC.” Kaoru Maeda, buyer at HANKYU MEN’S TOKYO, explains the menswear world this unfamiliar term signifies.

What is “FRENETIC”!?



Regarding the trends for the 2013-14 Autumn/Winter menswear collection, Buyer Maeda commented, “Classic styles and items have been updated with bold prints, which felt very fresh.” Among these, HANKYU MEN’S selected pieces that emphasize visual impact, such as those with a sense of mix-and-match or striking patterns.

The keyword “FRENETIC” emerged from this trend analysis because, as Maeda explains, “Men living today are adept at finding inspiration in their daily lives, picking up elements from various cultures, eras, and styles, and arranging them. Similarly, their wardrobes are constantly being updated and evolving. This season, we’ve set the theme FRENETIC to express the remixing of disparate elements, such as the juxtaposition of classic and eccentric, or formal and casual.”

Focus on Styling from Giorgio Armani, Versace, and Givenchy



When asked about specific styles, Buyer Maeda described them as “classic styles enhanced with edgy accents like bold prints.” For example, Giorgio Armani’s “striped jacket paired with a dotted velvet shirt,” Versace’s “Chesterfield coat with a graphic art print denim set,” and Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci’s “Madonna print denim jacket with a simple black shirt and slacks” are styles that succinctly embody HANKYU’s interpretation of FRENETIC.

In terms of items, printed Chesterfield coats from Ami Alexandre Mattiussi and Jil Sander, as well as denim jackets from Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci and Versace, are highlighted as pieces that symbolize the theme.

Bold, Unconventional Color Palettes and Striking Patterns Offer a Fresh Look



Furthermore, the colors HANKYU MEN’S TOKYO’s luxury brands are focusing on for the “FRENETIC” theme include Bordeaux and Mustard. “This season’s color usage is bold and unconventional. Noble, classic base colors like Cassis, Navy, Black, and Burgundy are beautifully disrupted and adorned by vibrant Pink, Orange, and Ultra Violet. Additionally, the use of impactful monochrome or strong contrasting palettes, with Military Khaki adding a neutral touch throughout, is also characteristic,” explains Buyer Maeda.

Moreover, “In terms of materials, we’re looking at shaggy mohair and needle punch for wool. For patterns, anything impactful and large-scale, such as checks and graphics,” he adds.

Among these trends, brands HANKYU MEN’S is particularly focusing on include Ami Alexandre Mattiussi and Kenzo, known for their impactful prints. These brands are exclusively available at HANKYU MEN’S within department stores. Furthermore, “BALMAIN HOMME will open its doors on the second floor of HANKYU MEN’S TOKYO on August 24th (Saturday). On the second floor of HANKYU MEN’S TOKYO,
a special “ZZegna” shop has opened.

a special “Giuseppe Zanotti Design Homme” shop has opened.


Giuseppe Zanotti Design Homme, the Italian luxury brand renowned for adorning the feet of celebrities worldwide, will host a special pop-up shop from Wednesday, July 31st to Tuesday, August 13th.
